It's true--it is a boy! And we are thrilled! We have known since we were 18weeks...I had tried to figure it out sooner using everything from the amazing pee test (yellow=girl, green=boy) which only told us it was a hermaphrodite (yellow on bottom and green on top)....to the more sophisticated methods of Dr. Tran's guess of "Looks like a boy...no maybe a girl" after playing with his ultrasound machine...and several unofficial ultrasounds at work where none of the awesome US techs would say for sure. So....we found out at our "official" US and even though he was stubborn and we didn't get all the cardiac views the specialist wanted, we were definitely able to see BOY parts! (and got not a penis picture, but a scrotum one--too funny! Ornery already!)
I was so excited to find out it is a boy! Seems like planning and getting what you want don't always work out at our house in this department, so I didn't want to get my hopes up. But, since Reagan is older, I thought it would be great for Travis to have a little brother to grow up with. (Travis insisted up until this point that there were 2 babies--a girl for Reagan and and boy for him....sounded fun to Mom, but not Dad!) Travis was thrilled and showed Reagan our pics when she got home. Her reaction, "It's a girl, right?" and then I told her no, that it is a boy. She got teary eyed and said,"But I wanted to share my room!" It was too cute! I reassured her it was nice of her to want to share, but another brother would be fun too! It didn't take long and I think she is convinced and happy just the same.
Now on my side, boys and girls will be even...2 boys and 2 girls. But, on Jason's side the boys are overloaded--going on 11 boys and just 3 girls! Crazy! Travis has been an easy going baby and a fun toddler, so I'm looking forward to another boy. Dad is excited to get another "shop buddy" and Travis says he is going to share all his trucks...It is going to be interesting I'm sure! I've had a few more unofficial ultrasounds. One of the coolest was getting to watch my little guy stick out his tongue! Very cute! We've also got some cool pictures which is fun too.
We saw another specialist this month and are going to continue on with my Heparin shots (to prevent possible clots) for the remainder of the pregnancy. Basically, I think everyone, doctors and me included, just aren't brave enough to see what happens if we stop them. Nothing could happen or it could be disastrous...so we'll play it safe. I want to get this little guy here safe and sound.
As for names...we are very undecided. Travis wants to name him "Santa Baby" and Reagan has a new idea almost every day. I think I better start a list....
