Kindergarten is Cool!

Reagan's big day finally came! She was beginning to think it never would since her cousins started school last week. "When am I going to school?" became her favorite question. It came all too soon for Mom and all too slow for Reagan. As soon as we found out the name of her teacher, she told everyone she talked to that she was going to Kindergarten and that Ms. Stone was her teacher. Ms. Stone's name did elude her at least once though, as she told her friends at the Daddy Daughter Date that her teacher was going to be Ms. Rock--which they all thought was funny!
Well, Reagan isn't scared of anything...least of all Kindergarten! She was so excited! We went the night before and met Ms. Stone. She was nice and the room was full of fun stuff to and play with--Reagan found the doll house right away and started to play! On her big day, she got up and got ready without much complaining even. (She is a night owl and doesn't like getting up--much like her parents!) Breakfast, hair, backpack, pictures...then a kiss for Dad and brother and off to Jack Daley Primary School with Mom. Reagan went inside her class, sat down, and began a conversation with one of her preschool friends....and quickly forgot Mom was even there still! I got a quick picture and a big hug and Kindergarten began!

Reagan was convinced she needed to ride the bus home...so we let her. She jumped off and came running to Jason, Travis, and I. "Kindergarten was cool!" she said and then began to fill us in on her day. She got to swing and play on the playground with Covin and Rylan, ate lunch by Callie, read about The Gingerbread Man, had a Gingerbread Man search, made Gingerbread Man puppet, and rode the bus home with Emma.....oh, and "got in trouble" she said. When we aked more about the trouble, she couldn't remember why--only that she was in class and the other girls got in more trouble...who knows?! Hopefully it wasn't anything bad. Her only complaint for the day was not getting to play with the doll house in class. Not bad for her first day!

We thought Reagan would crash hard after such a long day, but she was just as full of energy as when she left. Travis enjoyed having the playroom to himself for the day, but was overjoyed to see and play with her when she got home.

Jason said to me as I was leaving to take Reagan to school, "You know this is just the beginning of our lives for the next 12 yrs." It is....and that is scary....our lives will have to change a bit....we won't be Reagan's entire world anymore...and I already miss her (and sleeping in!). Even still--Life is good and Kindergarten is cool...so far!

It sounds like Reagan is off to a good start. I'm so glad that school and learning are "cool" to her and hope that it stays that way for the next 12 years.
Sure love you guys,
Mama rose

I have already started dreading the coming of this day in our house and it is still a year away! Life will sure change. Besides them being away from you for so long, you also lose some flexibility in travelling and such.

I'm sure Reagan will enjoy the year and I hope you do too. This last year with Kim will probably fly by for me too. Good luck!

Tell Jason it will be life for the next 17 years with Travis or more if you 2 decide to have anymore kiddos. I'm glad Reags had fun. It will be fun to listen to her and Hunter over the years and compare Bulldog and Eagle schools.

Yeah the teachers must be doing something right since they like going!!! Covin was the same way all energetic when he got home and was still a champ even after he had football practice!

Just wait! One of these days you'll be looking forward to her going to school! Just help her keep the hunger for learning alive, and she'll learn more than you ever dreamed possible!

That's so great! It was kind of a sad moment when Carson realized that play dates at Nana's are over because all of the cousins his age are now in school. It's been fun to watch these kids grow and grow. We love you guys!

How funny is that! I knew she would love school, she is such a social little thing :o) I love that she forgot why she got in trouble too! LOL! Isn't that just like kids? I'm glad you handled it well though! It sounds like you did better than me! I cried the whole day Felicity was gone!
