Reagan's First Grade Track Meet

May 7, 2010

Teachers don't get near enough credit...or thank you's....or even money. They work so hard for our kids...and our kids love them almost as much as they love us! Our teachers really are amazing here and often go above and beyond. I think having a first great track meet is one of those above and beyond things....so supported by our principal, our teachers put together a list of events and let each child choose 3, placed every child in the relay, and put on a First Grade Track Meet!

Reagan chose her favorites:Dribbling.Softball throwing.

And I talked her into a race...she didn't want to run. She insisted she wasn't fast enough, and I insisted it would be fun no matter what. I guess I fibbed. She signed up for the backwards race and ran her fastest--so fast that she fell flat on her bottom. She finished the race with dignity, but was next to last...and she was crushed. Not because she was almost last, but because she didn't get 3rd place. (I was helping out by "calling" 3rd place in each race--also the reason I didn't get a picture of it....so all she wanted to be was the one I called- 3rd). No tears were shed, but she was still sad and didn't even want to take a pic afterwards. She was ready to go when the relay started though. She ran her fastest and did a great joy! She was so determined!

Go Reagan!
Travis had so much fun with all the other little guys running around. Hanging out by the trees, on the stump, and digging in the dirt made for an exciting morning for this 2 year old!
Reagan came home with ribbons for each of her events--two fourth places, a fifth and a sixth place. No third, but she was still proud and excited to show off the ribbons! Way to go Reagan--we love you...third place or not!

That looks like so much fun! I think that the teachers getting excited about it helps get the kids even more excited. Our school does a kick ball tournament and the teachers really get in to it. Fun, fun!

It's fun to be involved in ALL sorts of things at school. I'm glad that Reagan "tried" and that her Mom and brother were there to cheer her on.
